The timeline of recorded galactic history stretches back almost 10,000 years, although events precede that by many more tens of thousands and perhaps millions of years.
Dating systems[]
The Galactic Standard Year (GSY) is used by most members of the interstellar community. Its origins are obscure, but are likely linked to the First Time and the Bentusi's emergence on the galactic scene.
The Kharakian Dating System (KDS) was used during the exile of the Hiigaran people on Kharak. It ceased to be used after the Kharakian Genocide.
Before Hiigaran Landfall (BHL) and After Hiigaran Landfall (AHL) refer to the date when the Hiigaran people returned to their homeworld, during the Homeworld War (and incidentally use the date of Homeworld as Year 0).
Timeline[]
Prehistory[]
GSY | Events |
---|---|
c. -2,000,000 | The Ghost Ship founders in the Sea of Lost Souls. It projects an immense control field that takes over any ship that draws close to it. Other civilisations learn to give the area a wide berth.[1] |
c. -1,000,000 | The experimental starship Naggarok arrives in the galaxy from a neighbouring one, having travelled via the use of an intergalactic hyperdrive. The Naggarok's long exposure to hyperspace results in it being infected by an unknown organism which kills most of the crew and tries to seize control of the ship. The surviving crew scuttle the vessel and leave it adrift, where it remains undisturbed for over a million years. |
? | The Progenitors arrive in the galaxy from an unknown point of origin. They establish a vast empire spanning much of the galaxy. They create the Great Network of Hyperspace Gates, the Eye of Aarran and numerous artefacts and spacecraft. One Progenitor, Sajuuk, forges the Three Hyperspace Cores. |
c. -100,000 | The Progenitor Empire collapses by unknown means. The vast debris field at Karos, the Great Derelict at Tanis and other vast ruined structures are attributed to this time. Before the end, Sajuuk hides the Three Hyperspace Cores in remote parts of the galaxy and hides his personal starship, also called Sajuuk, beyond Balcora Gate. |
? | The Bentusi become one of the first spacefaring civilisations to arise in the aftermath of the Progenitor collapse. The Bentusi eventually abandon their physical bodies and become Unbound, merging with their starships to become creatures of space. |
Ancient History[]
GSY | KDS | BHL | Events |
---|---|---|---|
0 | -8294 | 9510 | The First Time begins. The Bentusi begin establishing the Outer Rim Trade Routes. Other civilisations begin moving towards spacefaring status. The Galactic Standard Calendar is established. |
c. 5000 | c. -3294 | c. 4510 | By this time the Bentusi have discovered the First Hyperspace Core and gained the ability to Far Jump, making them supreme amongst galactic races. They grant Short Jump hyperspace technology to the lesser races, including the nascent worlds of Hiigara and Taiidan. |
c. 5500 | c. -2794 | c. 4010 | A five-century golden age of peace and prosperity ends. Many races, including the Taiidan and Hiigarans, take advantage of the Bentusi inability to be everywhere at once to launch wars of conquest. Several major empires emerge. The Galactic Council is founded by sixteen major powers. The Taiidan and Hiigarans fight several border wars to no satisfactory outcome. |
c. 6509 | c. -1785 | c. 3001 | The Hiigarans discover the Second Hyperspace Core and construct the Sajuuk's Wrath. They launch a sneak attack on the Taiidan homeworld. The Galactic Council condemns the Hiigaran aggression and moves to seize the Core. The Hiigarans agree to surrender it to the Bentusi, only to launch an ambush on the Great Harbor Ship of Bentus. The attempt fails and the Hiigarans are defeated. Sajuuk's Wrath is destroyed in a hyperspace jump to the Angel Moon, the Second Core apparently along with it. The Hiigaran Empire is dismantled and the Bentusi, sickened by the violence, renounce war. |
c. 6510 | c. -1784 | c. 3000 | The resurgent Taiidan Empire invades Hiigaran space in a war of retribution. Hiigara is conquered. The Galactic Council pleads for mercy and the Taiidan allow the Hiigarans to go into exile on the far side of the galaxy. The Hiigarans agree, but secretly recover the Second Core from the Angel Moon and take it with them. The Guidestone is created. |
c. 6511 | c. -1793 | c. 3009 | The Taiidan take possession of Hiigara and relocate their capital there.[2] |
c. 6510 to 7500 | c. -1784 to -794 | c. 3000 to 2010 | The Hiigaran Exodus. In a cluster of primitive ships short-jumping across the galaxy, the Hiigarans make their way into exile. Along the way several ships are lost in the Great Nebula, where the found the Kadeshi civilisation. The remaining ships, led by the Khar-Toba, eventually reach the desert planet of Kharak and make landfall.[3] |
The Exiles on Kharak[]
GSY | KDS | BHL | Events |
---|---|---|---|
c. 7500 | c. -794 | c. 2010 | The Dark Ages of Kharak. The initial colony on Kharak, the First City of Khar-Toba, endures for some years but encroaching harsh desert conditions force its abandonment. The Exiles are forced to wander the planet in search of more hospitable regions to settle. High technology is lost, forcing the Exiles to revert to using swords and spears in battle. Knowledge of the Progenitors is maintained through a religion which comes to worship Sajuuk as a god. |
8294 | 0 | 1216 | The Dark Ages end. The kiithid begin to settle in the northern polar regions and some semblance of civilisation takes shape again. The oldest written records are made. |
8369 | 75 | 1141 | Various ecological disasters strike the kiithid. Kiith Gaalsien helps lead exploration and penetration of the northern polar region. After 175 years (c. 250 KDS), Gaalsien's influence wanes compared to the less conservative, more innovative kiithid. |
8394 | 100 | 1116 | Earliest records of Kiith Somtaaw, identifying them as living in the peaks and valleys of the Khontala Mountains. The Somtaaw establish the walled cities of Hameln and Gydeo. |
8472 | 178 | 1038 | Teigor Somtaaw sponsors Kharakian artists from numerous disciplines in the creation of a series of temples on the slopes of the mountain Lungma Jun, "The Roof of the World." There are 33 temples in total, leading from the sands of the Kasaar (at the Oracle of Tala) to the summit of what was, at that time, the world's tallest known mountain. The Shimmering Path links them together. The Seventh Temple is known as the Dome of Heaven, located within the city walls of Gydeo. The highest is the Temple of Mysteries located on the highest slopes of the mountain, which is almost uninhabitable. Located on an altar in the temple are the Star-Metal Scrolls, allegedly written by the hand of Jakuul himself in a language which no living man can read. |
8544 | 250 | 966 | Waning of Kiith Gaalsien's influence in the north. |
8634 | 340 | 876 | First mention of Kiith Manaan, known as "The Travellers." |
8710 | 416 | 800 | Kiith Soban, "The Grey Brotherhood," is founded. |
8756 | 462 | 754 | The Siidim Council proclaims that only Kiith Siidim are of Divine Origin; all other kiithid are native to Kharak and considered "Gritiidim" or "sand people," subhuman. |
8782 | 488 | 728 | Kiith Paktu are driven from their ancestral homes and lands by the Siidim pogroms. |
8784 | 490 | 726 | The Great Migration begins. Nearly fifty Paktu families set sail from Albegiido, crossing the Great Banded Desert on the winds of the seasonal storm, the Chak m’Hot in hopes of reaching the southern hemisphere. Only seventeen families survived the journey to reach the Hunon Mountains near the south pole. |
8787 | 493 | 723 | Members from Kiith Paktu cross the Great Banded Desert once again to tell others of what they have established. Migrations from the north begin. |
8807 | 513 | 703 | Siidim slaughter Manaani at Ferin Sha (the Dancing Grounds). The Manaani being a retaliatory series of strikes lasting some 150 years. |
8814 | 520 | 696 | The Heresy Wars begin (approx. 520-820 KDS). The two largest kiith in the north, Siidim and Gaalsien, go to war over what caused the gods to place them on such an inhospitable world. |
8946 | 652 | 564 | The Siidim launch the first of three assaults on the southern lands, seeking tribute from kiithid they still consider vassal clans (most notably the Paktu). The assault is repulsed. |
8950 | 656 | 560 | Jora Manaan declares an end to her kiith's war against the Siidim. The Manaan now focus exclusively on trade. A new dancing ground is built in the Paktu-held south. |
8969 | 675 | 541 | With the war slowing the influx of religious pilgrims to Lungma Jiin, Kiith Somtaaw closes all 33 of the temples on the Shimmering Path, except the Oracle of Tala and Dome of Heaven. |
8992 | 698 | 518 | Kim Paktu, grandson of Majiir Paktu and leader of the Paktu kiith'sa, defeats Liam Gaalsien and his men in the Battle of the Majiirian Sea. It is the last crusade ever attempted against the Paktu. |
9011 | 717 | 499 | Miirpat Gaalsien-Sa orders his people to blow up the complex series of wind baffles, dykes and sand paths that protect the temple city of Saju-ka. Considered the artistic gem of Kharak at the time, the city is completely buried under the sand, killing thousands. Kiith Gaalsien retreats into the desert wastelands, abandoning the north and claiming its decadence will eventually bring down the wrath of Sajuuk. |
9012 | 718 | 498 | Kiith Gaalsien is convicted in absentia and declared an outlaw kiith. |
9035 | 735 | 475 | The Turanic Raiders first appear on the galactic scene, raiding shipping and the vessels of other species. |
9083 | 789 | 427 | Kiith Somtaaw discovers incredibly rich iron deposits below the Red Creek valley in the Khontala Mountains. Kiith Somtaaw begins its transition from a religious kiithid to a mining one, becoming wealthy along the way. |
c. 9094 | c. 800 | c. 416 | Kiith Hraal is founded by five families from other kiithid, united in surviving the chaos of the wars. |
9104 | 810 | 406 | Kiith Naabal emerges from their valley enclave of Tiir, exposing Kharak to new, advanced science and technology heretofore unknown, including advanced explosives, steam power and refining techniques they had kept secret for more than a hundred years. Their presence encourages diplomacy and peace talks. |
9114 | 820 | 396 | Formal end of the Heresy Wars.[4] |
9124 | 830 | 386 | The Time of Reason begins. The capital of Kharak is moved to Tiir. |
9306 | 1012 | 204 | Kiith LiirHra is founded by members of Kiith Hraal and Kith Liir, focusing on aerospace fabrication and orbital deployment. By this time the Coalition of the Northern Kiithid has been founded to work against the encroaching desert. |
9318 | 1024 | 192 | Kharak's first orbital flight is launched. It is met with protests from religious members of society and leads to the Silumiin Riots. Masaar Manaan, a cryptographer engaged in deciphering Gaalsien messages from the wastes, uncovers evidence of an unknown force operating in the southern deserts, known as "Khaaneph." |
9320 | 1026 | 190 | Masaar Manaan is ordered by the Coalition Intelligence Arm to investigate the Khaaneph mystery. Astonishingly, the Gaalsien share intelligence confirming that the Khaaneph are real, "godless" Kushan who have abandoned religion and kiithid altogether to live as feral raiders in the deep wastes. Although not numerous, they are incredibly dangerous for their rejection of every aspect of the Kharakian way of life. |
9351 | 1057 | 159 | Project StormBreaker – a giant ridge of sand baffle walls, a full kilometre wide and thousands of kilometres long, girdling the entire lower face of the Barrier Mountains, commences. It is hoped that it will hold back the advancing desert sands. |
9355 | 1061 | 155 | During a manned space flight, crew members discover floating debris in high orbit. It is determined it is metallic, but its atomic composition shares no similarities with anything known to exist on Kharak. The discovery and study of the space debris leads to great scientific progress in metallurgy and manufacturing, along with the development of fission and fusion power plants. The following fifty years are a time of great technological progress. |
9362 | 1068 | 148 | The Siila's Eye generation of environmental monitoring satellites is launched. |
9367 | 1073 | 143 | After five years of analysis of the Siila's Eye data, K'zell Naabal confirms that Kharak is dying. The sands are spreading at a rate ten times faster than previously thought and it is confirmed that the Seas of the Three Sisters will be completely dry within 200 years. The natural aquifiers that the Coalition's irrigation systems depend on are also shrinking, six times faster than initial predictions. It is believed that in less that 350 years, Kharak will no longer be able to support life. |
9368 | 1074 | 142 | The Night of Fiery Daggers (Siifar Kor’shesh). On the first night of 1074, ten thousand Gaalsien soldiers attack the twin forts along the StormBreaker Wall. Kiith Naabal springs an ambush, using Sobani mercenaries to destroy the Gaalsien army and ending any military threat from the Gaalsien for a full generation or more. |
9369 | 1075 | 141 | The first generation of combat crawlers enters service. Roman S'jet is among the officers who commands them in battle. |
9394 | 1100 | 116 | Kiith S'jet institutes a new orbital sensor system, a series of potent deep-scan radar satellites capable of sweeping the space around Kharak for millions of kilometres. It is called Project Viin Cal. |
9400 | 1106 | 110 | Leykab Jaraci, working on a malfunctioning Viin Cal satellite, accidentally detects hundreds of anomalies scattered across the Great Banded Desert. The strength of the largest of the signals he detects rivals that of Kharak's sun. Initially known as the Jaraci Object, it soon becomes known as the Primary Anomaly. Operation Skaal Brii is launched. The deep desert expedition is meant to find and claim the Jaraci Object for the Northern Coalition. Less than a month after leaving port, all contact with Tiir is lost. The largest superstorm in recorded history blankets the southern hemisphere for 13 days, and is cited as a reason for the loss of contact. |
9401 | 1107 | 109 | The search for survivors of the Skaal Brii expedition is called off. The flagship carrier Ifriit-Naabal and her crew are officially declared lost. Planning and design for a second expedition to find and retrieve the Jaraci Object is approved by the Daiamid. The construction of the new Sakala-class of deep desert carriers is accelerated. |
9403 | 1109 | 107 | The first Sakala-class deep desert carrier rolls off the production line. Addressing all of the shortcomings of its predecessor, the newly commissioned carriers can move faster, last longer and hit harder than the Ifriit-class Heavy Carrier. The Sakala-class S’jet carrier Kapisi begins construction. |
9404 | 1110 | 106 | Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. Operation Khadiim, the second Jaraci expedition, is cleared to launch, headed by the deep desert carriers Sakala and Kapisi. The expedition heads deep into the Great Banded Desert, overcoming furious Gaalsien opposition, betrayal from allied kiithid and adverse weather conditions. Eventually it locates the Prime Anomaly, a derelict starship and the centre of Khar-Toba, the long-abandoned First City of Kharak. |
9406 | 1112 | 104 | The Second Hyperspace Core is located in the wreck of the Khar-Toba. Overnight, it completely transforms Kharakian quantum science. |
9410 | 1116 | 100 | The Taiidan Emperor Riestiu IV, known as the Mad Emperor, forges an alliance with the brutal Turanic Raiders, making them mercenaries of his empire. |
9429 | 1135 | 81 | The Guidestone is located in the Observatory of Khar-Toba. The Guidestone confirms the location of Hiigara. The Guidestone is given to the keeping of the Daiamid to debate its philosophical implications. |
9449 | 1155 | 61 | Mevath Sagald presents the Guidestone to the High Ministers of the Daiamid. |
9453 | 1159 | 57 | After almost five years of study, the Daiamid orders the construction of an immense starship, the Mothership, using the knowledge gleaned from the wreck of the Khar-Toba. Using the Guidestone, the Mothership will chart the way back to Hiigara, determine its status and then begin a long-term evacuation of Kharak. The combined efforts of the Daiamid result in the amassing of vast stockpiles of resources needed for the construction of the Mothership and its own assembly station, the Scaffold. This project is anticipated to be completed in sixty years. |
9473 | 1179 | 37 | After twenty years of planning and resource gathering, construction of the Scaffold begins. |
9479 | 1185 | 21 | Test pilot Rei Magann is placed in cryo-stasis and undertakes an automatic test flight across the Kharakian system on a cross-elliptic path. The test flight is a complete success, confirming the viability of long-term cryo-stasis. |
9484 | 1190 | 26 | The Scaffold is completed. Primary construction of the Mothership begins. |
9498 | 1204 | 12 | The Gold List is assembled, a list of candidates for the 600,000 people who will travel on the Mothership to Hiigara. Candidates are chosen based on age (no-one under the age of 17 or over the age of 50), health, experience and qualifications, particularly scientific or engineering. Once the final list is completed, candidates begin the cryo-freezing process before being loaded into the orbital Cryo Trays. The process is lengthy, requiring it to begin twelve years before the Mothership's departure. |
9500 | 1206 | 10 | The support vessel Khar-Selim is dispatched to the outer edge of the Kharak system on conventional engine power, a journey of ten years. It is planned that the Mothership will make its first hyperspace jump to the vicinity of the Khar-Selim, which will monitor the ship's status as it emerges. |
9503 | 1209 | 7 | The Bentusi censure the Taiidan for their brutality and suspend all trade contact with the Empire. The Frerrn Aggregate reaches a state of undeclared war with the Taiidan due to border conflicts on the Far Rim. |
Return of the Exiles[]
GSY | KDS | AHL | Events |
---|---|---|---|
9510 | 1216 | 0 | Homeworld. The Mothership is launched, but the first use of the hyperdrive is detected by a Taiidan patrol fleet. Kharak is destroyed in retribution. The Mothership manages to escape with some 600,000 survivors in cryo-suspension. It charts a course across the galaxy, its six-month, 35,000 light-year struggle becoming famed as the Homeworld War. With the help of the Bentusi and Taiidani rebels led by Captain Elson, the Mothership reaches Hiigara and destroys the Emperor's flagship. The Taiidani abandon Hiigara, which is reoccupied by the Hiigarans. |
9510-9514 | 1216-1220 | 0-4 | The Sleepers, those who undertook the voyage from Kharak to Hiigara, in cryogenic storage, are slowly awakened (so as not to overwhelm food supplies). The process of dealing with the shock and trauma of these people awakening to learn that their entire world and families have been annihilated proves complex and challenging. In this period Iifrit Tambuur-sa, the sole survivor of Kiith Tambuur, is awoken from cryo-sleep. Learning not only of the Genocide, but that his wife was killed in the Taiidan attack on the cryo-trays, he declares Paaura (eternal vengeance)) on the Taiidani Imperial faction. He becomes a famed bounty hunter, claiming over three hundred Imperial war criminals over the next dozen years. |
9514 | 1220 | 4 | The Daiamid or New Daiamid is reconstituted on Kharak, meeting in the planetary capital at Asaam Kiith'sid. The New Daiamid's political makeup is deemed controversial, given it gives overwhelming power to the six kiithid that make up more than half of the Hiigaran population and little to the many dozens of others. Many larger kiithid absorb the smaller ones to bolster their own strength. Kiith LiirHra merges with Kith Hraal. A Taiidan Imperialist force launches a major assault into the new Hiigaran sphere of influence but is beaten back. |
9515 | 1221 | 5 | The Taiidan Republic emerges from the ruins of the Empire. Only 60 out of the 150 star systems formerly part of the Empire remain loyal to the central government. |
9516 | 1222 | 6 | The Taiidan Republic signs a peace treaty with the Hiigarans, agreeing to extradite war criminals implicated in the Kharakian Genoice, and reopens trade with the Bentusi. |
9517 | 1223 | 7 | Kiith Nabaal attempts to absorb Kiith Somtaaw, citing Somtaaw's low population (barely 15,000) and the need for Somtaaw's mining expertise. Somtaaw resists the effort, aided by the Soban and Paktu. During the debates, several near-extinct kiithid merge with the Somtaaw, increasing its ranks to 25,000. Somtaaw is allowed access to the Mothership, now serving as a shipyard in Hiigara orbit, and builds three ships: the enormous mining vessels Faal-Corum and Kunn-Lan, and the research frigate Clee-San. |
9519 | 1225 | 9 | A Taiidan Imperialist faction launches a brazen attack on Hiigara itself, but is defeated and destroyed by the homeworld's defence force. |
9520 | 1226 | 10 | Kiith Hraal becomes a vassal of Kiith LiirHra |
9521 | 1227 | 11 | Widespread food rationing on Hiigara ends as food supplies begin to outpace consumption rates. A third major incursion into Hiigaran space by Taiidan Imperialist forces, again defeated by the homeworld's defences. |
9523 | 1229 | 13 | Turanic Raiders activity around Hiigaran combat and transport vessels grows |
9525 | 1231 | 15 | Homeworld: Cataclysm. Kiith Somtaaw inadvertently discovers and unleashes a powerful cybernetic threat, The Beast. The Somtaaw, in alliance with other Hiigaran, Taiidani and Bentusi forces, manages to halt and destroy the Beast and its origin point, the intergalactic starship Naggarok, before it can conquer an inhabited planet. Additionally Some Kiith Naabal engineers forge a new Caaliburnous Sword |
9530 | Kiith Soban begins renting its services out to other star civilizations within the galactic core | ||
9550 | 1256 | 40 | The Hiigarans learn the truth about the Second Core's unusual nature from Hiigaran and Taiidan records. It is extracted from the Mothership and placed on display in the New Daiamid council chamber as a memorial. |
9585 | Kiith Jaraci split out of Kiith S'jet to focus on signals technologies and Progenitor sciences | ||
9586 | The last of "Perdition" class Missile Destroyer of original Kushan Fleet is retired | ||
9595 | 1302 | 86 | Fleet Tactical Debates happens about 30 years before Makaan begins his invasion |
9599 | Mehemit Matara, the notable Fleet Officer of the last Nimbus expedition is born | ||
9602 | Pagraan Matara, another notable Fleet Officer of the last Nimbus expedition is born | ||
9609 | Joanna Naabal, the Fleet Intelligence Moderator of the last Nimbus expeditions is born and Esentra Magann another the notable Fleet Officer of the last Nimbus expeditions is born | ||
9612 | Amaala Magann, another notable Fleet Officer of the last Nimbus expeditions is born | ||
9624 | 1330 | 114 | The Vaygr begin a campaign of military conquest, starting in the Vaygr Reaches and moving corewards. The Hiigarans determine that Makaan has found the Third Hyperspace Core of Sajuuk and plans to reunite the Three, giving him unlimited power. He must recover the other cores from Hiigara and Bentus. To resist him, construction of a second Mothership, the Pride of Hiigara, is authorised and begins at the Great Derelect at Tanis. Karan S'jet agrees to once again command the vessel. The Second Core is moved from Hiigara to Tanis. |
9625 | 1331 | 115 | Homeworld 2. The Vaygr fleet besieges Hiigara and attacks Tanis, but the Pride of Hiigara is able to escape. Embarking on a long journey across the galaxy in search of information about the Three, the Pride defeats the Vaygr in several key engagements. The Bentus is destroyed in battle with Progenitor drones, but the Pride recovers the Second Core. It then destroys Maakan's forces in battle at Balcora Gate, allowing the Three to be reunited and the Sajuuk to be recovered. Maakan's dying act is to unleash powerful Planet Killer weapons against Hiigara, but the crew of the Pride destroy them using the Sajuuk. |
Age of S'jet[]
GSY | KDS | AHL | Events |
---|---|---|---|
9626 | 1332 | 116 | Some months after Makaan's defeat, the Sajuuk locates and opens the Eye of Aarran, reactivating the Great Network of Hyperspace Gates. The galaxy is united in trade and prosperity as never before. The Age of S'jet begins. |
9629 | 1335 | 119 | The first expedition to reach Nimbus was the Carrier Abiigado. Though the entire battle group was destroyed by Progenitor keepers, two assault frigates managed to escape where they were captured by Cangacian pirates. |
9631 | 1337 | 121 | The Lazarus Expedition launched. This Expedition was under the order of the Daiamid, this was the largest expedition since the Vaygr War some years prior. A new Mothership, the Lazarus, was constructed to spearhead and it was staffed and equipped with many field experts. Unfortunately the mothership from this expedition was repurposed as Lazarus Station. Because the Lazarus fleet never reached their intended course towards the center of the galaxy, and they never encountered the borders of the Tanoch Empire.
The last orders from Admiral Sirocco Manaan, commanding officer of the Lazarus expedition, was that he was going to find out if the Nimbus Galaxy had a gate network core similar to the Eye of Aarran. |
9635 | Survivors of Abiigado expedition appeared at Lazarus base. Gideon S'jet, right hand of Karan S'jet, becomes the part of Caral Expedition to Nimbus. Mahel Manaan, departs with Leviathan Expedition to Nimbus | ||
c. 9635 | c. 1341 | c. 125 | First anomalous behaviour detected in the gate network, with some gates shutting down and starting at random. Karan S'jet notes the events but Hiigaran scientists can discover no reason for them. The Daiamid concludes these are the unavoidable consequences of using such ancient, poorly-understood technology. Karan S'jet continues to monitor the phenomenon.[5] |
9638 | 1344 | 128 | A supply network has been established to allow Lazarus base to serve as a fleet base to the rag-tag remnants appearing in Nimbus. Efforts to colonize the Empty Quarter as a Hiigaran settlement are underway, though face problems from the nearby Cangacian pirates and the predation of the warlord Supay and his forces, the Fleet of Rams. |
9641 | 1347 | 131 | Homeworld Mobile. |
9713 | 1419 | 203 | The Battle of Jessel's Star takes place. Hiigaran forces under Fleet Admiral Toreth Naabal defeat a raider force. Subsequent poor performances of Hiigaran forces against raiders using "terrain-hugging" techniques leads to the Hiigarans commissioning "WaveRider" squadrons trained to use "terrain" in space to overcome enemy forces.[6] |
9718 | 1424 | 208 | Imogen S'jet born on Hiigara.[7] |
9720 | 1426 | 210 | By this time, the malfunctions in the gate network have become serious enough to effectively block out a vast region of the anti-coreward rim from safe hyperspace travel. This region becomes known as the Anomaly. After considerable pressure from Karan S'jet, Operation BaseRunner takes place. Karan S'jet takes the newly-commissioned Khar-Sajuuk on a close survey of the Anomaly and fails to uncover evidence for its nature or origin. Karan argues for a more aggressive incursion into the Anomaly, which the Daiamid rejects.[8] |
9724 | 1430 | 214 | The Hiigaran colony ship Faal Ferin attempts hyperspace transit of the gate at Goreth's Star. The gate fails, slicing the colony ship in half and killing all 20,000 people aboard. The scale of the Anomaly becomes public knowledge for the first time. The Daiamid agrees to Karan S'jet's plan to investigate the Anomaly more forcefully, authorising the 5th Expeditionary Fleet to enter the Anomaly.[9] |
9725 | 1431 | 215 | The Khar-Sajuuk departs for the Anomaly. 81 days into the operation, Karan S'jet reports they are about about to enter the Anomaly via the Kesura Gate facility. This is the last communication received from Karan or the Khar-Sajuuk for twenty years. The Anomaly ceases growing in the meantime. The presumed destruction of the Khar-Sajuuk sparks discussions about a replacement Mothership-class ship, leading to the construction of the Khar-Kushan.[10] |
9730 | 1436 | 220 | Imogen S'jet graudates with full accolades from the S'jet Science Academy at the age of just 12. Her entry paper Simulated Hyperspace Environments becomes required reading for students entering the field.[11] |
9734 | 1440 | 224 | Imogen S'jet earns Teaching Privileges in Physics, Hyperspace Dynamics, Computation Abstracts as well as Advisor Status in Chemistry, Biology and Theoretical Mathematics,, at the age of just 16.[12] |
9736 | 1442 | 226 | Project Akkad is initiated to replace the missing hyperspace cores lost with the Khar-Sajuuk. Imogen S'jet joins the team at the age of just 18.[13] |
