- "Hovercraft capable of engaging ground units. Strong against ground strikecraft." — In game description
The Tyrant-class Long Range Capital Ship (Coalition codename: Skaad'l-class Siege Cruiser) is a large, artillery hovercraft, used by Kiith Gaalsien during the Exile Era. It features two heavy artillery arrays to bombard targets well beyond its sensor range.
Lore[]
- "*** Alert *** Alert *** Alert *** All Command Stations ***
Be aware, this state-of-the-art cruiser has appeared on the battlefield in the past triad and is considered extremely dangerous at long range. Reports are still being compiled, but it is confirmed this is a hover enabled cruiser and is capable of long-range heavy artillery fire. Also reported but not confirmed is some sort of ballistic EMP device, capable of shutting down any of our units caught in the impact zone." — Expedition Guide
Campaign[]
Siege cruisers make their first appearance in the fifth mission of the campaign. A group of four of them appear with the Gaalsien carrier Ashoka, where they quickly establish themselves as threats when they destroy the Sakala's LAV wing.
In later missions, they are often found in advantageous positions atop cliffs, guarding slopes and typically guarded by at least a few missile ships. As their artillery barrages are quite effective for area denial in small passages, taking them out first is recommended.
Multiplayer[]
A rough analogue of the Artillery Cruiser from the Coalition, albeit with a different function. The Siege Cruiser is designed as the principal heavy artillery support for the Gaalsien during the Exile Era. Considered as one of the most versatile landships, the Siege Cruiser packs two heavy mortar arrays and four point defence guns.
Whilst still lacking in the firepower department when compared to the more powerful Honorguard Cruiser, the Siege Cruiser is still a respectable vehicle in its own rights.
A heavy artillery unit, the Siege Cruiser shines at long range, bombarding enemy forces from afar, dealing AoE damage against all ground targets over time. Moreover, it has a few useful abilities and upgrades. These are:
- Artillery Barrage - as its name implies, this covers a vast area intended for damaging groups of enemies. Its projectiles drop to the ground at random for several seconds and, if the enemy realizes that early enough, damage can be avoided.
- EMP Shell - after you purchase the upgrade of this name, you will be able to attack with EMP projectiles that immobilize all units within the blast radius (apart from the carrier).
- Auto-targeting - it allows you to either enable or disable auto-lock. Disabling this ability ensures safety of your units from accidental fire.
