- "Basic demolitions and salvage craft." — In game description
The Ghoul-class/Slaa-class Multi-Utility Support Craft is Kiith Gaalsien's basic salvager used for resource gathering, ship breaking and salvage operations.
Lore[]
- "The Gaalsien salvager unit functions much the same way as the Somtaaw version, though the Somtaaw engineers would argue their craft is much more reliable. The major difference in the two vehicles is deployment doctrine. While alliance salvager teams usually run in triads with the most experienced unit on point to identify resources or threats, the Gaalsien often operate in swarms that can reduce wreckage fields to raw materials in minutes instead of hours. While this tactic makes Gaalsien salvage teams vulnerable to ambush by experienced alliance commanders, it is also a fact that the Gaalsien can often make a battlefield wreck disappear in the time it takes alliance salvagers to reach it." — Expedition Guide
Campaign[]
Gaalsien salvagers are seen part of Ashoka's resourcing operation within the Beladin Sea as well as the massive salvage operation of ship wrecks near a Gaalsien base.
Gaalsien salvagers are also seen escorted and attempting to extract ancient artifacts in mission: Tomb of the Ancients.
Gaalsien salvagers may be produced from production cruisers. If the player hacks a production cruiser, they may build Gaalsien salvagers of their own. There is little reason to do so as they are functionally near-identical to coalition salvagers.
Multiplayer[]
Salvagers are the only ships that may be produced from both carriers and production cruisers. This allows Gaalsien players to expand their economy much faster than their Coalition or Kiith Soban counterparts. Four are are part of the initial fleet given to all players at the beginning of skirmishes.
Gaalsien harvesters are identical to Coalition variants despite the lore description. Despite being hovercraft, they are not faster, more durable or more manueverable than the Coalition variant.
During resourcing operations, production cruisers should be placed adjacent to the salvagers, so they do not need to spend time delivering their resource payloads.
Their demolition charges, used for shipbreaking derelict hull for resources, detonate automatically. They can be used as a form of desperate self defence against incoming LAVs to a somewhat effective degree.
