Per Doine was an obscure Kushan theologian on the eve of the first orbital space flight, Mission Silumiin, circa 1024 KDS.
History[]
Per Doine revived the old myth that tragedy would befall the Kushan if they offended the gods again with another act of arrogance. This started a theological revival that spread throughout the poorer kiithid, under the belief that the industrial output was being wasted on space exploration, and would be better served attempting to terraform Kharak, or at least trying to find a way to support a larger population and to push back the encroaching sands. He led a mob of his followers to riot at the launch of the Silumiin launch vehicle, threatening to tear down the vehicle. The technocrats averted disaster by standing in front of the defense turrets, preventing them from firing on the crowd. However, Per Doine himself managed to break through cordon around the rocket, and was praying beneath it when it was launched, vaporizing him and making him a martyr for the cause.
