This is the article on the resource controller in Homeworld 2. For other uses, see Resource Controller. |
The Mobile Refinery was a non-Combat Ship designed for providing docking facilities to remote resourcing operations used by the Hiigarans and Vaygr in Homeworld 2.
Overview[]
The refinery is essentially an improved version of the older Resource Controller, with an additional docking pad. Its size makes it well suited for working in cramped resourcing operations, allowing it to operate in a lot more situations than previous bulkier designs could allow.
Despite possessing guns, this was realistically designed to deal with minor strike craft attacks and were ill-suited for use against actual meaningful assaults from enemies seeking to disrupt resourcing operations, so they should generally be defended.
Trivia[]
- Despite being an obvious target to impair a players' resourcing capacity in the single-player campaign, the Vaygr never make any attempts to send forces to attack remote resourcing operations, making it unlikely that they require a defence force.
- 15 years after the Vaygr War, these vessels could operate remotely afar from fleets and harvest resources independently. It is currently known as to how the Hiigarans were able to achieve this.
