Mission Silumiin was the first orbital space flight conducted circa 1024 KDS by the Kushan, which utilized the Silumiin launch vehicle.
History[]
The mission was threatened by a theological revival, led by an obscure theologian named Per Doine, on the eve of its launch. The theological revival was centered around resurrecting the old myth that tragedy would befall the Kushan should they offend the gods with another act of arrogance. The poorer kiithid believe the industrial output was being wasted on space exploration, and would be better served in trying to make Kharak more habitable. The technocrats averted disaster by standing in front of the launch platform's defense turrets to prevent them from firing on the crowd during the 14 hour long launch sequence. However, Per Doine managed to break through the cordon around the rocket, and was pray beneath it when he was vaporized as the vehicle was launched, becoming a martyr for the cause.
