The Ifriit-Naabal was an Ifriit-class Heavy Carrier built and used by the Coalition Of The Northern Kiithid, owned by Kiith S'jet. It was the flagship of Operation Skaal Brii, the failed first expedition sent to Khar-Toba's location. It was lost under mysterious circumstances in 1106 KDS. The carrier was named after Ifriit Naabal, the greatest of all the Naabali Kiith-Sas, the man that ended the Heresy Wars.
History[]
The Ifriit-Naabal was built at the Hraal Industrial Works factory in the city of Tiir, in 1102 KDS. It was in active service under the Coalition's military for four years before its disastrous final mission.
In 1106 KDS, in the same year the Jaraci Object was first discovered, the Coalition sent the Ifriit-Naabal to its location in the Great Banded Desert, as part of the hastily prepared Operation Skaal Brii. During its trip, the carrier made a detour to the Sarathi Basin, where it discovered the wreck of the alien ship Kalash. They not only identified the ship: also, inside its wreck, the Ifriit's crew found a mysterious device of alien origin, a Sensor Waveform Amplifier, which could vastly enhance the sensor systems of whatever it was installed in. One month after Operation Skaal Brii started, while the carrier was passing through the region known as Hell's Gate, probably returning north, a sand dune collapsed over it. The dune was so heavy it punched through the Ifriit's decks, severely damaging it and leaving it stranded in that location. Eventually the carrier's remains were ransacked by Kiith Gaalsien forces, searching for the artifact, in vain. Those crewmembers who survived the dune collapse were taken prisoner by them.
Four years later, in 1110 KDS, the Kapisi, leading Operation Khadiim, the next attempt to complete Skaal Bri's mission, arrived at Hell's Gate, looking to rendezvous with its sister ship, the Sakala. While they were in the middle of a sandstorm that interfered with the carrier's sensors, the Ifriit's emergency beacon still worked, so the expedition was able to locate its remains. The Gaalsien attacked the Kapisi, but its fleet was able to repel them, and destroy a nearby Production Cruiser (Gaalsien). During their time there, Rachel S'jet retrieved the artifact hidden within the Ifriit, which the Gaalsien failed to find. Once the Gaalsien cruiser was destroyed, the Kapisi's forces abandoned the region, diverting their course towards the Kalash's wreck. Within the Ifriit's logs, Rachel and the Kapisi's crew found out about what happened to the Ifriit from Jacob's own words.
The artifact, along the data recovered, proved a great help to the Kapisi's mission, and they became critical for it to complete the Ifriit's original mission.
Crew[]
The carrier was captained by the Naabali military officer Commander Deckard Naabal. His first officer was Jacob S'jet, older brother of Rachel S'jet. Roman S'jet was part of the crew as well, but his involvement with the Ifriit-Naabal was heavily classified. It had a crew of 450 officers, 500 soldiers, and 306 workers. All that remained of its escort forces were 4 abandoned Horizon Railguns that were found scattered throughout the northern part of Hell's Gate by the Kapisi's fleet.
Notes[]
- The Ifriit-Naabal's identification number was Sierra Charlie 7208.
