The Gun Platform is a type of turret seen in Homeworld 2, which is used as a means to deter strike craft of attacking static locations. The turret is a single burn ship; once it has been moved to a location it cannot be moved again, staying in one place indefintely.

Usage

In the third mission of Homeworld 2 Sarum, you encounter the Shipyard Naabal under attack by a sizable Vaygr fleet. In order to fight them off, you will need resources via some asteroid belts nearby, but bomber raids make it difficult to gather the ore.

Gun platforms are introduced here as a way to ward off attacks to both the Shipyard and to help protect your resource collectors.

Trivia

• In a way, they function similarly to the deployables used by the Coalition of the Northern Kiithid in Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.
