Gravity Generators are used tactically to disable the movement of strike craft, leaving them vulnerable. They can also be used to forcibly pull ships in hyperspace out into normal space. Ships pulled out of hyperspace tend to sustain damage.
Background[]
The Kushan and Taiidan Empires created Gravity Generators during the Homeworld War. A notable use of this technology was during an ambush in the Galactic Core, where the enemy used them to pull the Mothership Fleet from hyperspace. However, the nature of the generator made them unable to recharge and if a generator ran out of charge, it would simply explode.
Overview[]
Gravity generators can activate their ability manually, generating a large field that freezes enemy Strike Craft in place. While frozen, they may still fire, but are considerably more vulnerable to enemy fire. In multiplayer, larger ships within the field cannot engage in short jumps. Gravity generators take damage while the ability is active, eventually destroying themselves in the process. If ordered to stop using their ability, gravity generators stop passively losing health. Attentive players can salvage them before they self-destruct to recoup some Resource Unit loss.
Up to three gravity generators may be built, though more can technically be captured. It is very difficult to capture one against attentive human players, however, since gravity generators can simply activate their ability to stop any salvage attempts.
