- "Long range missile deployable. Strong against aerial targets." — In game description
The Defender-class Anti-Air Turret Post is a static deployable anti-air defence turret deployed by Coalition of the Northern Kiithid during Operation Khadiim. They are deployed by baserunners to typically deny air space from hostile aircraft. Anti-air turret posts will launch two missiles in succession at any hostile aircraft that enters its targeting range.
Campaign[]
Anti-air turret posts are deployed by baserunners and are first made available at the Kalash site, as an anti-air defence measure against the Ashoka fleet, which is pursuing the Kapisi. Several interceptors are sighted spotting Kapisi's shipbreaking operations shortly before Ashoka arrives to attack Kapisi's fleet.
Anti-air turret posts are armed with potent anti-air missiles, which can destroy Gaalsien interceptors with two missiles. Like the turret post, which can only engage ground vehicles, the anti-air turret post can only engage aircraft. Hence these turrets require support and protection against Gaalsien hovercraft.
Later in the expedition, the Kapisi gains access to different anti-air defence platforms from missile battery vehicles and support cruisers, which largely supplant the anti-air turret post, considering they are not left behind after a mission ends.
Multiplayer[]
Anti-air turret posts are identical to the ones featured in campaign, featuring potent anti-air missiles and are deployed from coalition or Soban baserunners. They are however, fragile, with low hull and armor, given their high costs in terms of CU. Support cruisers and missile battery vehicles offer much more for their resource cost, such as repair and mortar respectively. Anti-air turret posts are generally deploy as a desperate measure early in the match, given they are available after the initial second cooldown when neither are available for anti-air defence. The sixty second cooldown is shared with the turret post.
Anti-air turret posts while are quite lethal, are easily overwhelmed by heavier aircraft, such as precision bombers or tactical bombers. If those bombers target the turret specifically, they will likely be destroyed. Hence these turrets function best when they are not spotted and targeted. Bombers that do destroy these turrets may have potentially wasted their payload, but can still refuel and restock for the next sorty.
